Figurative Language Analysis of Michele Meleen "Like Stars in the Sky" Poem

Like Stars in the Sky

By: Michele Meleen

Friends are like the stars in the sky,

always there even when you can’t see them.

They shine brightly in dark times,

guiding me as the North Star does for travelers.

In daylight, they blend in,

a natural part of my every day.

Figurative Language Analysis:

Personification:

- "Friends are like the stars in the sky"

In the first sentence, it means that friends are represented as stars, not real stars. The author wants to show that friends are like stars in the sky.

Hyperbole

- "They shine brightly in dark times"

It interprets that the friend shines in the dark. The one where it's overly exaggerated. But what the author means is that a friend is like a companion when we are alone.

Moral Value:

In this poem, the writer wants to say that friends are a valuable part of our life. So that he represents friends with the stars in the sky that illuminate our lives and are there for us.
